Where did GetOnTheCouch Come From?
The Couch Concept was born by Co-Founder, Eric Weisholtz, who recognized a need for relationship support amongst his family and friends who were already under the attention of Certified Counselors, Psychologists, or Psychiatrists. Repeatedly, Eric witnessed people paying for advice, only to gain few, or no positive results. Consequently, he decided to create an online community where members could gain valuable insight from fellow Couch Comrades who have similar experiences to draw upon.
Why Should I Get On The Couch?
Get Guidance! Log in to GetOnTheCouch and ask your anonymous question. You'll receive individualized answers from various members of The Couch Community.
Give Guidance! Log in to GetOnTheCouch and search the numerous questions posted by your fellow Couch Comrades. Find Questions that you can relate to, or perhaps have already lived through. Respond to other members by sharing your insight based upon personal knowledge and prior experiences.
Your identity is always concealed at GetOnTheCouch.
Our distinct set of technologies and site characteristics guarantee that you'll always be anonymous (assuming you want to be). You are in control of what other Couch Comrades see about you, whether you're asking questions, or offering advice. In certain cases, you may opt to be mysterious and remain nameless. Other times, you may desire to disclose your screen-name, or even your picture. It's all your call on The Couch!
1. PRIVACY
We do not monitor, track or watch the activities of our community members as they browse the site.
Other community members will never know your true e-mail address or identity unless you tell them. The only identity they can see is your anonymous screen name so, you can remain anonymous. All responses to your questions are stored in your GetOnTheCouch mailbox on the website.
Please view our Privacy Policy.
2. ASKING QUESTIONS
When you ASK a question, respondents see your identity as: GetOnTheCouch Forever-Fan. If preferred, you can even hide your screen-name and just show general info like "New Jersey, 26-30, Funny Girl".
3. ANSWERING QUESTIONS
Anonymity is preferred by some of our members when responding to user questions, while others are happy to offer full disclosure. Consequently, GetOnTheCouch provides two options:
A. Our default setting allows other members to see your screen name. For example, GetOnTheCouch Forever-Fan.
Your screen name is connected to your Profile Page. Your Profile Page includes personal information about yourself such as screen name, sex, age, personality type, profile information and a picture, if desired. If you answer questions under the default setting, other Couch Comrades can see the info you've chosen to put on your Profile page.
B. Your second option is to use the anonymous setting. In this mode, other users strictly see general information about you (for example, "New Jersey, 26-30, Funny Girl"). Other members are not able to see your screen name or Profile in this setting.
