Earth Day IS hot! Being green is being sexy. Rather than try to convince you with logic and rationality, let me lead you through the day I have planned: a day of one hot, eco-conscious young lady as she celebrates the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.
I get up in the morning and decide to make my new-found
breakfast salad , consisting of cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, soft summer greens a soft-boiled egg (or two) and freshly cracked pepper. Perfect for a beautiful Spring day.
After choosing eco-friendly attire, from
underwear to a very cute
organic cotton dress , I hop in my Prius and head to one of my favorite Philadelphia coffee houses,
mugshots , for their fabulous organic coffee. If you haven't figured out that I took the day off (it IS Earth Day), you will figure it out by the fact that I spend the rest of the morning and early afternoon hanging out with my best friend and walking around the city (and shopping a little, of course).
As she leaves, I meet up with my latest love interest, I very cute young man we will call Steve. Steve and I decide to grab a very small bite at the
Essene Market and Cafe off of South Street.
Now, we're in the mood to party. But first, we head to his place in Philadelphia's Queen Village area, where we enjoy
Yellow and Blue brand organic wine (I LOVE their Chardonnay).
Miraculously, a few hours go by. (Wine and . . . intimacy will do that.) Before things get too hot and heavy, we are off to a party catered by
Eco-Bar , which specializes in organic drinks. My favorite cocktail will be made with
Sipp , a brand of organic soda that comes in a variety of flavors.
Finally, I am dropped off at my Prius, where I give Steve a very long and appreciative goodbye kiss and drive home. (Yes, home. I actually do have to go to work, tomorrow.
So there you have it. For those of you who think you have to dress in Tie-dye and hug trees to celebrate Earth Day, I hope this sets the record straight for you.
HAPPY EARTH DAY!
