As we all know, technology is taking over face-to-face communication rapidly! Do you think its easier or fair to the other person by breaking up over texting/Facebook message/e-mail?

Today's technology has changed the way we date. Whether people like to admit it or not, conventional dating methods have taken a backseat to text messaging, social media sites such as Facebook and e-mail. That said, there are still some things that should be done in person depending on the situation.

I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with letting someone down via text, Facebook message or e-mail provided your relationship with the person isn't that serious. If you've only gone on a couple dates and you're not feeling the vibe, sending a message to let the other person know you're no longer interested isn't out of line.

However, if you have been legitimately dating someone for a decent amount of time, such as a few months or more, you should probably take the high road and break the news face to face, or at least over the phone. People will remember that you made the effort to be respectful and honest, and you would appreciate the same if the tables were turned.

It may be easier for the person doing the dumping to feel very little guilt because they dont have to face the other person. Though this fact remains, ending a relationship via text, social networking, email, or even over the phone is rude and undignified. This is another human being you are talking about and they deserve the respect of being told face to face that the relationship is over.

There is no such thing as "fair" or "the best way" in breaking up. Unless the break up is amicable, it will always be at a bad time. If the goal is to separate from the other person cleanly and quickly, any possible route is a good one. Only the person being rejected will call foul on the method. Well, them and their friends and everyone else who's been broken up with that way. But then again, if you are breaking up with someone you probably should not worry about what people will think of how you delivered your decision, just that you did. Good luck.
