If he breaks up with her, he lacks self confidence and the ability to generate his own happiness. Her words ring with encouragement and inspiration rather than rejection. Effective dependency comes to mind as an apt description of her. She believes in him. She believes in their relationship. Time and distance do not appear to be potent obstacles.

He should feel a sense of gratitude towards her flexibility and deep love. The sense of sorrow and bitterness that would most likely accompany his "break-up" speach would only confirm his lack of faith in both himself and the relationship.
