I only came out to my friends and family as a gay man after I entered a serious relationship. You cannot believe how many friends I lost. What is wrong with this picture? A part of me wonders how they could not have known in the first place. And....really....what difference should it make in friendship?

It shouldn't make any difference. Consider this your call from the universe to recreate your life as the wonderful thing it should be. Make new friends, start a new life, and forget about those people who weren't really your friends to begin with.
