For some, ending a relationship is one of the hardest things they will have to go through. Even if the relationship was abusive in any way, ending a relationship with someone you cared about, and spent most of your time with, is an incredible task. Often, we find ourselves in a position where the only option is to terminate the bond, and when it's time, there are proper ways to do so. Here is a list of top 5 ways NOT to end a relationship.

  • Cliche
    Don't give him/her that old "it's not you, it's me" nonsense. Don't think about how it should end, if it's supposed to end, it's going to end, so don't end the relationship with a lame cliche. Don't try so hard to come up with elaborate ways to end the relationship, just tell it like it is.

  • Be a dick
    Some guys think its best to just turn into a real dick if they want to end a relationship. They figure, it's the best way to let her go. Instead of hurting her feelings, just let her decide when and how to break off the relationship. This process is wrong in so many ways; first of all, you're not man enough to break it off, so you make her do it. Second, you need to be a dick so she will end up hating you. And third, is the relationship not worth telling her the truth? Tell her why you want to break up, and the real reason for it, don't just turn into a different person so she breaks up with you.

  • Facebook status
    Social networking sites command the internet these days and it's not uncommon to see couples divulging their relationship status on these websites. One way NOT to end a relationship is definitely by changing your Facebook status. Simply changing your Facebook status and not telling your partner is not only embarrassing for him/her, but just plain wrong. You are violating so many rules- of relationships and of social networking.

    This is similar to the Facebook status option; ending a relationship via the internet. You can't just send your partner an email or an AOL message ending a relationship. This kind of thing is best for face to face. The ending of a relationship is much like the start of one; you wouldn't tell your partner your true feelings for them over the internet would you? Well same goes for ending a relationship, explain to him/her what the reason is and let them down with some respect.

  • Mid-date
    This sounds like common sense, but some people just don't have it. Guys, don't take your girl out on a date, and break it to her in-between the appetizers and the main course. This is not only awkward, but just absolutely wrong! How well do you think her meal will sit if you tell her "it's over" right as the waiter is bringing out her meal? Just imagine how awkward the conversation might be from there, if there is any. Do you really think she will want to sit in the car with you on the way home? Think, don't just end a relationship on a whim, and put some thought into it. Ending a relationship requires just as much planning as initiating one.

The number one way to NOT call it quits is by saying, "I'll call you."

However unoriginal the above comment is, I have had the pleasure of being told that I am going to hell because I eat cheese--while he was putting on his pajamas.
